GAME SEVEN: RAIN STOPS GAME IN THIRD

(New Sick's Stadium, Seattle) Drizzle changed over to heavy rain in the
3rd inning of NC DCS game seven at Seattle, forcing the postponement of the
decisive game of the series. When the game was called, the score was 1-1,
after solo HR by Gant (SEA) and Surhoff (QUE).

GAME SEVEN: RAINIERS TOP ROGUES 6-4, ADVANCE TO NCCS

(New Sick's Stadium, Seattle) Alex Rodriguez' 3-run HR in the 3rd off of
emergency starter Steve Karsay was quickly followed by Raul Mondesi's solo
shot, propelling the Rainiers to a 6-4 win over Quebec in game 7 of the NC
DCS. Juan Guzman pitched into the 7th, allowing only a 3-run HR to Jim
Thome, and Richie Garces closed things out, yielding a solo HR to Jose
Canseco in the 9th. Rodriguez (3 HR, 7 RBI) was named series MVP,
although, in many ways, Garces (1-0, 3 sv, 1 BS, 0.79 ERA) was the pivotal
figure in the series.

GAME FIVE: AROD HOMER IN 11TH SENDS R'S

(Quebec) Alex Rodriguez' leadoff HR in the 11th gave Seattle a 4-3 win and
3-2 series lead over Quebec. The Rogues had pounced on Seattle starter
Jeff Suppan for 3 runs with 2 out in the 1st on a 2b by Larry Walker, 1b by
Jim Thome and HR by Jose Canseco. But the Rainiers were able to tie the
game on Will Clark's 4th inning solo HR and 2 unearned runs in the 4th.
The game then turned into a duel of the bullpens, with Seattle using 7
pitchers, to nail down the victory. Rich Garces picked up the win with 3
innings of 1-hit relief. Pat Mahomes was tagged with the loss.

GAME SIX: ROGUES MANHANDLE RAINIERS 17-6

(New Sick's Stadium, Seattle) Wilson Alvarez' 2-base error in the 4th
paved the way for a 6-run Quebec uprising, as the Rogues pounded Seattle
into submission 17-6. The win set up a decisive 7th game that will feature
lefties Randy Johnson and Mike Hampton. Kevin Tapani earned the win,
pitching 5+ scoreless innings in relief of Ron Villone. 4 different Rogues
(Bell, Williams, Jaha, Buford) homered and everyone hit against the
beleagured Rainier staff.

QUE rallies back to tie series 2-2

Trois Rivieres, Province du Quebec-

Game 3- Seattle jumped to a 2 run lead early behind a Brian
Hunter 2 run home run, but Quebec banged out a few singles and
a sac fly from Larry Walker to tie the game. John Jaha put
Quebec ahead 4-2 on a Terror deep fly homer, and the Rogues
put up a 4 spot for insurance in the bottom of the 8th. The
extra runs came in handy as Alex Rodriguez and Tony Fernandez
went back-to-back against Jeff Zimmerman in the 9th, but
Quebec held on to win 8-5.

Game 4- Seattle again took an early lead, scoring 1 in the first.
Kenny Lofton nailed Ron Belliard at home to avoid another run.
Quebec used another home run by John Jaha and
consecutive sacrifices by Kenny Lofton and Deivi Cruz to take a
2-1 lead. A pair of doubles by Ron Gant and Chris (don't call
me Don!) Singleton tied the game, and Seattle added 2 more in
the 4th helped in part by a Kevin Young error. Quebec managed
to tie the game in the 7th due to wildness by Randy Johnson and
Rich Garces- 3 walks, a 1b, and a rg leading to 2 runs. The
Quebec crowd thought perhaps Lofton had won the tie game
in the bottom of the 9th, but his deep shot down the left field line
was easily snagged by Gant. In the bottom of the 10th, Matt
Williams tagged Jeff Nelson's first pitch of the inning deep into
the left field seats, and Quebec won a nail-biter 5-4.

Games 5+6 are tentatively scheduled for 9 pm ET/8 pm CT
Wednesday on IRC. All are welcome!

UNIT, GUAPO STYMIE ROGUES 3-2

(New Sick's Stadium, Seattle) Randy Johnson allowed 4 hits over 7+
innings, striking out 10, and Rich Garces closed things out, as Seattle
defeated Quebec 3-2 in Game 1 of the National Conference Divisional
Championship Series. The Rainiers took an early 2-0 lead on an rbi single
by Chris Singleton and a bases loaded walk to Brian Hunter in the 3rd.
Larry Walker cut the lead to 2-1 with a long solo HR off of RJ in the 6th.
SEA responded in the bottom of the inning when Raul Mondesi singled, stole
2nd and scored on Travis Fryman's single. After QUE PH Bernard Gilkey led
off the 8th with a 2b that was lost in the lights by the SEA outfielder, RJ
retired Walker and then turned things over, albeit reluctantly, to Garces.
Garces walked the bases full, before inducing 2 ground outs, allowing
Seattle to escape with its lead intact. Garces pitched a 1-2-3 9th to ice
the victory. Mike Hampton took the loss for Quebec.

TUCKER TERRORIZES QUE

(New Sick's Stadium, Seattle) Michael Tucker's 2-out, 7th-inning TERROR
2b scored pinch runner Raul Mondesi, breaking a 4-4 tie and leading Seattle
to a 6-4 decision over Quebec in Game 2 of the NC DCS. The Rogues broke
the ice in the 3rd when Kenny Lofton singled in Jay Bell, who had reached
on an error. Tucker tied the score in the 4th with a DF solo HR to right
center off of David Cone. The Raniers then took the lead in the 5th on
Fernandez' DF sac fly, scoring SEA defensive goat (0 for 2 range, 1 error)
Benny Agbayani, and Will Clark's 2 run DF HR that immediately followed.
Quebec stormed back in the 6th. Matt Williams ripped a 2-run HR off of
Jeff Nelson. BJ Surhoff then doubled and went to 3b when Agbayani kicked
the ball around in left. Brent Mayne slammed a single to score Surhoff and
tie the score. Kenny Lofton singled to lead off the QUE 7th, but reliever
Mike Duvall spun the double play ball, setting the stage for Tucker's
double. Rich Garces pitched 2 scoreless innings to earn his second save of
the series. Steve Karsay took the loss for QUE.
