PEDRO DOMINATES R'S
Ghosts Thrash RJ
(Caspar) Pedro Martinez struck out 13 in 6+ innings, departing with a 10-0
lead, as Caspar took Game One of the NCCS 10-4. A 4-run 3rd, that included
2 OFR to Benny "J" Agbayani, sent the defending champions on their way to
the rout. Nomar Garciaparra drove in 3 runs, including 2 backbreaking runs
in the 3rd, for CSP. The anticipated pitchers' duel between the top two
pitchers in the NC never materialized. Randy Johnson was ineffective
against the Ghosts' guns, big and small, and left in the 4th. Caspar
pitchers combined for 19 strikeouts. Pedro's 2-out TOUGH HR-->DF on Greg
Myers in the 2nd prevented a 3-run HR, keeping the game 0-0 in the early
going.

JUSTICE TOO MUCH FOR SEATTLE
(Caspar) Dave Justice homered twice, driving in 4 runs, to lead Caspar to
a 7-6 win over Seattle. 6 Ghost pitchers combined to hold off the
Rainiers, who squandered many opportunities in a game where they outhit the
league champs. Chuck Finley got the win, in relief of Alex Fernandez, and
Jose Cabrera pitched the 9th for the save. The big outs of the game,
however, were recorded by Troy Percival in the 7th. With the tying and
go-ahead runs on with none out, Percival k'd Raul Mondesi and induced
Ronnie Belliard to hit into a DP, ending the last credible SEA threat.

QUICK HOOK HAUNTS RAINIERS
Ghosts Kayo Seattle Bullpen
(New Sick's Stadium, Seattle) It will be second guessed for years to come,
at least in Seattle baseball circles. Up 2-0 in the 7th, co-manager Don
Singleton pulled Rainier ace Randy Johnson with 2 on and 2 out. A visibly
upset Johnson stormed off the field and soon had more to rage about as 3
Seattle relievers gave up a run each and Caspar rallied to take a 3-2 win
and a commanding 3-0 series lead. The Rainiers scored 2 in the 5th on rbi
2b by Alomar and rbi 1b by Agbayani. That held up until the 9th when
Graffanino singled off of Tom Davey (L) to score pinch runner Brian (L.)
Hunter and Jeff Bagwell followed with a 2b to left center that scored the
go-ahead runner, David Justice.

GHOSTS SWEEP RAINIERS
(New Sick's Stadium, Seattle) Pinch Hitter Tim Salmon ripped a 3-run DF
TERROR adjusted 9th-inning homer to break a 4-4 tie and send Caspar to the
IBL Championship Series with their 2nd sweep of the post-season. Brian
Hunter (no L) doubled home pinch runner Lance Johnson in the bottom of the
8th to tie the score and give Rainier fans hope for another day, but, for
the second night in a row, the Ghosts punished the SEA 'pen and pulled out
a 9th-inning win.

(Caspar, WY) The Seattle Rainiers face defending champion Caspar in Game 1
of the National Conference Divisional Championship Series tonight at 9 EST.
The game will be broadcast on live on Marauders. Pedro Martinez (27-5,
1-0?) takes the ball for the Ghosts. Randy Johnson (33-7, 1-0 in post
season) will try to keep the Ghosts' sluggers in the park. In last year's
NC DCS meeting between the two clubs, Pedro defeated Seattle, and RJ, twice
(10-1, 2-0).
Caspar is heavily favored to bounce Seattle from the playoffs for the 3rd
straight season. But the Rainiers, fresh off a 7-game upset of Quebec,
finished the regular season with a 16-game winning streak and are hoping
that Mr. Mo Mentum will not abandon them now (gotta hang your hat on
something).
