COL wins 4-1 over SDQ !! This ensured for the first time in IBL history the NC Pennant will come from the Central Division. Game 1 COL wins 8-4 in 10 innings. COL's bullpen blew a 4-0 lead over the final two regulation innings, allowing SDQ to tie the game 4-4. However, COL exploded for 4 runs of Kelvim Escobar et al. in the 10th for the victory. W: KC Bailey L: TOR Escobar Game 2 COL wins 7-3. Game was close (4-3 COL) until the seventh when Ray Lankford and Doug Mientkiewicz went yard on Norm Charlton. COL bullpen shut the door this time around. W: NYA Mendoza L: PHI Person Game 3 The first attempt at Game 3 was rained out after 2 and a half innings. Game3b SDQ wins 4-2. Randy Johnson (-2) faced Joe Mays (-2). Game was tied 2-2 going into the ninth until ph Cesar Izturis stroked a 3B off Jeff Zimmerman scoring two runs. W: TOR Escobar L: CHA Foulke S: SF RodriguezF. Game 4 COL wins 3-1. Tied 1-1 going in the 5th, SDQ starter Mark Buehrle took a liner from Chris Richard's bat and was injured for 6 days. In the 6th COL scored two off Robert Person on a Brady Clark HR and a Jeff Cirillo 3B. COL relievers Bailey and Keith Foulke then shut down SDQ the final three innings for the win. W: DET Sparks L: PHI Person S: CHA Foulke Game 5 COL wins 3-2. Facing elimination, SDQ started Escobar and prayed for some offense. COL continued the pitching dominance slamming the door on SDQ for the first 8 innings with four different pitchers, while building a 3-0 lead. SDQ finally came alive in the 9th scoring two off Bailey. With Foulke unavailable and Zimmerman already used, long-time Corsair Scott Sullivan was called on, and he submarined the final two big outs for COL's first ever NC Pennant appearance.
