Congrats to HAG
Congrats to HAG on whooping up SEA in the WC series. HAG takes g3 6-5 and g4 4-0 on a 5 br CG effort by Harden. I'll avoid the full recap for the past 2 games but here are some fun Rainier Rally facts.
Ryan Freel hit half as many homers in the series (1) as SEA did (2)
Eric Chavez hit more homers in the series (3) than SEA did (2)
SEA scored only 2 runs on the HAG pen all series
SEA scored only 3 runs after the 5th innings all series
Harden started the clinching game on 3 days rest, and went 9, never allowing the 6th baserunner
ARod sucks
Congrats again Gerard. Good luck stealing bases of your next opponent!
NC WC series heads back to Seattle... Tied 1-1.
Game 1
In game 1 HAG started off with a bang scoring 3 runs in the first off of Tomko. SEA answered right back with 5 runs in the top of the second, but those would be the last runs SEA would see for a while. HAG took a 6-5 lead into the top of the 9th, but back to back 1 out doubles by Rowand and Thome tied it up. In the bottom of the 9th Chavez lead off with a single vs Steve Reed. HAG pinch runs with Scott Podsednik and SEA calls upon Scott Dohmann to try and work it out. Podsednik steals 2nd and 3rd without problem and Dohmann is left facing a no out situation with a runner on third in b9. He K's Gary Matthews and Matt Stairs then gets Adam Kennedy to ground out to complete the Houdini act. SEA wouldn't see another baserunner the rest of the game though, and in b12 Gary Matthews scores Darin Erstad from 3B on an infield single to win the game.
Game 2
Game 2 saw a matchup of Jake Peavy vs Woody Williams. SEA jumped out to an early 3-0 lead as the first three batters of the game scored and never gave it up. HAG was able to rally to bring the game to 5-3 in the 6th inning, but after a 9th inning homer by Moises Alou to make it 6-3 they were unable to rally in the bottom of the 9th and that was the final score.
After an off day the series will continue (most likely Friday night) back in SEA. Probable pitchers are Mark Redman for HAG and Glendon Rusch for SEA.
