World Championship Series - Game 1 Pregame

Hello, and welcome to tonight's contest between the Macon Peaches and
our hometown favorites, the Leesburg Generals. This is one unlikely
series, as *both* teams came into their respective league championship
series as the underdog. But the Generals won two road games in the
Texas dome to clinch the AC flag, while the Peaches swept the mighty
Syracuse Storm at home to win the NC. So anything can happen here!

Tonight's starting lineups. For Macon (listed are their 93 IBL
stats):

Willie Randolph playing 2B (.312 BA, 3 HR, 32 RBI)
     Rey Sanchez at SS (.238 0 14 )
     Tom Brunansky in RF (.255 16 52 )
     Chris Hoiles Catching (.238 22 69 )
     Mike Devereaux in CF (.259 15 80 )
     Candy Maldonado in RF (.257 28 92 )
     Wade Boggs at 3B (.230 6 46 )
     Eddie Murray at 1B (.245 15 58 )

and Chris Bosio pitching (12-13, 3.95 ERA)

Facing Bosio, Leesburg sends:

Tony Gwynn in RF (.305 BA, 3 HR, 49 RBI)
     Deion Sanders in CF (.307 12 75 )
     Mickey Tettleton Catching (.261 27 100 )
     Edgar Martinez at 3B (.303 19 91 )
     Ryne Sandberg at 2B (.266 20 102 )
     Pete Incaviglia in LF (.272 8 30 )
     John Valentin at SS (.220 2 24 )
     Greg Colbrunn at 1B (.323 3 27 )

and Sid Fernandez pitching (16-10, 3.47 ERA)

Fernandez' record is all the more impressive when you realize that
he was 8-3 with a 3.10 ERA for Leesburg after a mid-season trade.

Both teams appear a little nervous tonight. We'll just chalk it
up to WCS jitters.

Stay tuned; after the national anthem, we'll have former Vice
President Dan Quayle throw out the first pitch, and the game will
begin!

catch the ball, but he's down, and appears to be hurt. Not only
that, but he landed on Leesburg's Dave Stewart, and Stewart appears
          to be hurt also.

Ooh, this is a big blow to Macon - reports from the clubhouses:

Hoiles - injured for 15 days - looks like he'll miss the rest of
               the series.
Stewart - injured for 4 days - he might be able to come back for
               game 4 or 5.

*** Your attention please - now catching for Macon: Mike Stanley.

The brawl has been stopped, and Maldonado and Fernandez were both ejected

Tune in Sunday night for game 2 of the Championship Series. In that game,
Dennis
Rasmussen of the Peaches goes against Melido Perez of the Generals.

World Championship Series - Game 2 Pregame

Hello, and welcome to tonight's contest between the Macon Peaches and
our hometown favorites, the Leesburg Generals. Game one saw the
Generals flex their muscles by jumping all over four Macon pitchers,
to the tune of a 10-1 victory. Macon, however, won their NC
championship on the strength of good pitching, so that may not be
repeated in the series.

However, Macon lost two starters - Chris Hoiles and Candy
Maldonado - for the near future. While Maldonado may be back
for game 5, Hoiles appears lost for the series. With their two
main home run hitters gone, Macon has an uphill battle.

Tonight's starting lineups. For Macon (listed are their 93 IBL
stats):

Chito Martinez in RF (.245 BA, 6 HR, 22 RBI)
     Doug Dascenzo in LF (.309 0 20 )
     Wade Boggs at 3B (.230 6 46 )
     Mike Stanley Catching (.236 6 23 )
     Eddie Murray at 1B (.245 15 58 )
     Lenny Harris at 2B (.288 0 38 )
     Greg Gagne at SS (.243 5 30 )
     Mike Devereaux in CF (.259 15 80 )

and Dennis Rasmussen pitching (3-5, 3.72 ERA)

Facing Rasmussen, Leesburg sends the exact same lineup as
for game 1 (a little superstitious, are we?):

Tony Gwynn in RF (.305 BA, 3 HR, 49 RBI)
     Deion Sanders in CF (.307 12 75 )
     Mickey Tettleton Catching (.261 27 100 )
     Edgar Martinez at 3B (.303 19 91 )
     Ryne Sandberg at 2B (.266 20 102 )
     Pete Incaviglia in LF (.272 8 30 )
     John Valentin at SS (.220 2 24 )
     Greg Colbrunn at 1B (.323 3 27 )

and Melido Perez pitching (19-15, 4.39 ERA)

Perez was 7-4 for Leesburg, and came over along with Edgar
Martinez in the big trade with the New York Knights.

After the national anthem we'll have former Baltimore Orioles
pitcher and Hall of Famer Jim Palmer throw out the first pitch.
Then we'll play ball!

coming home - he slides, and he's safe!
     Perez squares - he bunts - and Boggs goes for the sure out at first;
          Colbrunn advances to second.
Gwynn steps in - and strokes a single into right which scores Valentin
          easily.
Sanders strikes out to end the threat.

Leesburg manufactures two runs and takes what appears to be a commanding lead!

Macon Batting:

Martinez strikes out called for the first out.
Dascenzo singles into left - takes a lead off first.
Boggs hits one into the gap in right center - Dascenzo rounds
third and scores easily - Boggs slides, and he's safe at
          third base with a triple!
The Leesburg infield comes in again.

Stanley hits a fly to medium center - Boggs tags and he's safe!
          The game is tied!
Murray flies to left for out number three.

Leesburg Batting:

     Tettleton flies to medium center.
Martinez grounds one in the hole to Harris - he bobbles it but
fires to first for the out.
Sandberg grounds one up the middle - Harris spins and fires, and
          Ryne is out at first.

WCS - Game 2 - Seventh Inning

Macon Batting:

Harris flies to left for the first out.
Gagne strikes out called on a low fastball.
Devereaux grounds one to Valentin who throws him out.

Leesburg Batting:

     Incaviglia singles into short left.
Valentin grounds one sharply to Gagne, to Harris, to Murray, and
Macon has their second double play of the night!
Colbrunn grounds to Gagne to end the inning.

Neither team can mount much of anything. The tension's beginning to
get thick here in Leesburg!

WCS - Game 2 - Eighth Inning

Macon Batting:

Rasmussen steps up to the plate - then steps out - are they pinch-hitting
for him? No, he's just getting some instructions - but he strikes
          out swinging.
Martinez strikes out swinging, and Perez seems to be getting stronger,
          not weaker!
Dascenzo hits a high foul pop behind first - Sandberg is there and
          the side is retired.

Leesburg Batting:

Perez comes to the plate also. Both pitchers are batting for
themselves in the eighth, so I'd say the managers are thinking
this game will go on for a while. Perez flies to Dascenzo
          in left.
Gwynn lofts a shallow fly to Dascenzo for the second out.
Sanders strikes out swinging on a ball in the dirt.

Both pitchers seem in control; the next offensive threat will probably win
the game. This game is waiting for a hero - who will it be?

WCS - Game 2 - Ninth Inning

Macon Batting:

Boggs flies to Sanders in medium center.
Stanley grounds one to Sandberg - who throws to Colbrunn just in time!
Murray singles into short right. The winning run is at first!
Harris singles, and Murray was running on the pitch - he slides into
third safely, and Macon has the lead run 90 feet from home! Here
comes Leesburg manager Chuck McMath to the mound; looks like that's
          it for Perez.

*** Your attention please: Now pitching for Leesburg - Mark Guthrie.

*** Your attention please: Now batting for Gagne - Willie Randolph.

Randolph steps in - and grounds one to Martinez at third - he fires
to Colbrunn and the side is retired!

Leesburg Batting:

*** Your attention: Now playing 2B and batting 7th for Macon: Willie
          Randolph

*** Your attention: Now playing SS and batting 6th for Macon: Rey Sanchez

Tettleton steps up - it's hit deep - is it deep enough? Yes! It's a
Home Run for Mickey Tettleton, and the Generals win!!!

Leesburg takes a 2 game lead as the series moves to Macon. Can the Peaches
pull back from the brink? We'll see next week.

And the Spud Lite player of the game is of course Mickey Tettleton! Mick's
timely home run in the bottom of the 9th won it for the hometown favorites.
Mick's reward for being chosen player of the game is a 10 pound bag of Idaho
Potatoes. Bye now!

********************************************************************************
Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Fickling Memorial Stadium,
in the heart of historic downtown Macon, for game 3 of the IBL Championship
Series, featuring the Macon Peaches vs. the Leesburg Generals.

Macon came back from Leesburg reeling from the loss of two of its biggest
hitters, Candy Maldonado and Chris Hoiles. Both players were in Macon's top
three in runs and RBIs, and finished 1-2 in home runs on the team. Maldonado
is expected back for game 5, if the Peaches can hold on that long, while
Hoiles is out until next season.

Macon sends ace Doug Drabek to the mound to try to stop the slide tonight, while
Leesburg sends Danny Darwin to the hill. Dave Stewart was originally scheduled
to start tonight's game, but apparently has yet to fully recover from Hoiles'
flight into the Generals' dugout.

Tonight's starting lineups:

For the Leesburg Generals

Leading off, right fielder Tony Gwynn.

Batting second, third baseman Ken Caminiti.

Batting third, center fielder Deion Sanders.

In the cleanup spot, designated hitter Edgar Martinez.

Playing second but batting fifth, Ryne Sandberg.

Behind the plate and batting sixth, Mickey Tettleton.

Batting seventh, shortstop John Valentin.

Playing left field and batting eighth, Pete Incaviglia.

And batting ninth, first baseman Randy Milligan.

And now, taking the field, your very own MACON PEACHES!

Playing left field and batting sixth, Lenny Harris!

Playing center field and batting second, Doug Dascenzo!

Playing right field and leading off, Chito Martinez!

At third base, batting seventh, Wade Boggs!

Playing shortstop, batting ninth, Greg Gagne!

Playing second base and batting eighth, Willie Randolph!

At first base, batting cleanup, veteran Eddie Murray!

Behind the plate and batting third, Mike Stanley!

And warming up in the locker room, tonight's DH, Tom Brunansky.

And we'll be back in a moment with the opening pitch...

The IBL Championship Series -- GAME 3
*************************************

It's a cool night, and the stars are shining down from a clear sky -- a
beautiful night for what will hopefully be a beautiful game.

First Inning:

TOP HALF:
Gwynn raps a hard grounder to Randolph, who throws on to first -- and we're
     *finally* under way!
Caminiti taps a grounder to Randolph -- two down.
Sanders watches a called strike three over the inside corner, and the Generals
     go quietly in the first.

BOTTOM HALF:
Martinez rips a double into the gap in left center, and the crowd comes alive!
Dascenzo lofts a lazy fly to center for the first out.
Stanley goes down swinging -- looks like the Peaches may be about to strand
     that runner.
Murray watches a called strike three, and the Peaches waste a golden
opportunity to take an early lead.

Leesburg	0 0 0 0
Macon 0 0 1 0
------------------------------------------------------
LEE - Darwin	MAC - Drabek

Drabek looks good again early, but Macon can`t waste scoring opportunities
with the big bats out of the lineup.

Second Inning:

TOP HALF:
Martinez raps a grounder to Boggs -- one away.
Sandberg rips one back up the middle -- Drabek gets a glove on and keeps it
in the infield, but has no play on Sandberg.
Tettleton drives one deep to right field! Martinez drifts back, at the wall --
and makes the catch on the warning track for the second out. Sandberg
     stays put at first.
Valentin hits a liner that drops in front of Dascenzo for a single, Sandberg
stopping at second -- Dascenzo drops the ball, and it rolls behind him!
Sandberg races to third, and Valentin moves up to second. *Another*
Macon error -- will it cost them?
Inky lobs a fly to Martinez for the third out.

BOTTOM HALF:
Brunansky flies out to Gwynn.
Harris hits a slow grounder to Valentin.
Boggs grounds out to Milligan -- and it's a 1-2-3 inning for Darwin.

It's another pitchers' duel, folks.

Third Inning:

Milligan watches a called strike three.
Gwynn lofts a fly to Harris in left.
Caminiti lines a single into left.

     for the first out.
Gagne watches a called strike three.
Martinez goes down swinging.

Macon 0 0 0 0 1 1
------------------------------------------------------
LEE - Darwin	MAC - Drabek

Darwin has set down nine straight, but the Generals are having trouble coming
up with an offense themselves. Will it come down to another ninth inning blast?

Fourth Inning:

TOP HALF:
Martinez is frozen by a 1-2 changeup.
Sandberg hits a line drive deep to left. Harris races back and makes the catch
just shy of the warning track.
Tettleton taps a slow roller to Gagne, who makes the play at first in plenty of
time.

BOTTOM HALF:
Dascenzo lofts a high fly to center.
Stanley rips a hard grounder to Sandberg, who throws to first for the out.
Murray lofts a high fly to Incaviglia in left to end the inning.

		1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E

Macon 0 0 0 0 0 1 1
------------------------------------------------------
LEE - Darwin	MAC - Drabek

Twelve in a row for Darwin.

Fifth Inning:

TOP HALF:
Valentin grounds one up the middle and into center for a hit -- his second hit
     of the night.
Incaviglia lines one into left for a hit -- Valentin takes a big turn at
     second but holds up.
Milligan watches an 0-2 fastball for a strikeout.
Gwynn rips a hard grounder to Randolph, who goes to Gagne for one -- on to
Murray for the twin killing to retire the side!

BOTTOM HALF:
Bruno taps a grounder to Milligan, who takes it himself for the first out.
Harris watches a curve inside for a called strike three (Terry Tata seems to
have a *wide* strike zone tonight.)
Boggs taps one to Sandberg to end the inning.

		1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E

Macon 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 1
------------------------------------------------------
LEE - Darwin	MAC - Drabek

Fifteen in a row for Darwin -- but Drabek is doing his job as effectively, if
not as elegantly.

Sixth Inning:

TOP HALF:
Caminiti rips one to Randolph who goes to Murray for the first out.
Sanders drives one deep to left center -- no doubt about this one. Home run,
and Leesburg is on the board.
Martinez drills one to left field -- Harris can't catch up with this one and
plays it off the wall as Martinez coasts in to second with a double!
Sandberg works Drabek for a walk on ten pitches -- the Generals appear to be
setting up for the knockout punch.
Tettleton fouls off three straight 3-2 pitches before Drabek's fastball misses
     high to load the bases!
The infield comes in with Valentin at the plate. Valentin rips one up the
middle -- and Gagne comes out of nowhere and barehands the ball, flipping
to Randolph at second for one, and Randolph relays to first to end the
threat! How 'bout that, sports fans!

BOTTOM HALF:
Randolph lifts a pop up in foul territory to Milligan.
Gagne drives one deep to left field -- but Incaviglia flags it down on the
     track.
Martinez rips a ground ball to Valentin to end the inning.

		1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E
------------------------------------------------------
Leesburg	0 0 0 0 0 1 1 7 0
Macon 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 1
------------------------------------------------------
LEE - Darwin	MAC - Drabek

Leesburg draws first blood but blows a chance to break the game open. The way
Darwin is pitching, though, it may be enough.

Seventh Inning:

TOP HALF:
Inky lines a shot at Gagne for the first out.
Milligan lines a single into left, and the Generals have a runner again.
Gwynn hits a grounder to Randolph, who goes to Gagne for one -- Gagne holds the
     throw to first.

     since the first inning!
Bruno lines a single into center, and Murray moves into scoring position.
The Generals bullpen is starting to stir.
Harris watches a called third strike to end the inning.

		1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E

Leesburg	0 0 0 0 0 1 0 1 8 0
Macon 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 3 1
------------------------------------------------------
LEE - Darwin	MAC - Drabek

Macon's offense shows signs of awakening -- but is it too late?

Eighth Inning:

TOP HALF:
Sanders hits a high fly to center.
Martinez hits a long fly ball that Dascenzo tracks down for the second out.
Sandberg lofts a high fly to Harris.

BOTTOM HALF:

*YOUR ATTENTION, PLEASE -- NOW PLAYING LEFT FIELD, GREG VAUGHN

Randolph rips one towards the gap in right center. Sanders is on the run -- and
maes the diving catch for the second out!
Gagne grounds a single up the middle for a hit.
Martinez goes down swinging.

Macon 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 4 1
------------------------------------------------------
LEE - Darwin	MAC - Drabek

Macon's running out of time -- and Steve Farr is warming in the pen for the
Generals.

Ninth Inning:

TOP HALF:

Home Run! Tettleton's *third* home run of the series, and it gives the
Generals a much needed insurance run.
Belliard hits a routine grounder to short.
Vaughn goes down swinging.
Milligan watches a called third strike for Drabek's sixth K of the night.

BOTTOM HALF:

*YOUR ATTENTION, PLEASE -- NOW PITCHING, STEVE FARR

Dascenzo draws a walk on eight pitches -- the Peaches won't go down without a
     fight!
Tettleton blocks a Steve Farr pitch in the dirt and looks Dascenzo back to
     first.
Stanley drills a shot at Belliard for the first out.
Murray draws a walk, and the Peaches have the tying run aboard.

*YOUR ATTENTION, PLEASE -- NOW RUNNING FOR MURRAY, JOHN JAHA

Bruno hits a high fly to right, and the Peaches are down to their last out.
The runners go on the first pitch, and Harris slaps a single into left!
Dascenzo scores, and Jaha moves to third with the tying run!
Harris takes off for second on Farr's first pitch! The throw to second -- *not
in time*! The Peaches have the winning run in scoring position with two
     outs!
Boggs fights off several 3-2 strikes before drawing a walk to load the bases
for the hero of NCCS Game 3, Willie Randolph!

*YOUR ATTENTION, PLEASE -- NOW PITCHING FOR FARR, MARK GUTHRIE

Randolph hits a grounder up the middle -- *BASE HIT!* Jaha trots home from
third with the tying run. Harris rounds third -- he'll score without a
throw! Willie Randolph has done it again, as the Peaches rally for three
in the ninth to take game 3, by a final score of 3-2!

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Fickling Memorial Stadium,
in the heart of historic downtown Macon, for game 4 of the IBL Championship
Series, featuring the Macon Peaches vs. the Leesburg Generals.

The Willie Randolph Farewell Tour continued in game 3, as Randolph once again
came up with the clutch hit late, singling home the tying and winning runs in
the ninth to save Macon from a 3-0 series deficit. Meanwhile, the story for
Leesburg continues to be catcher Mickey Tettleton, who hit his third home run
in as many games last night, and is now batting .583 with six RBI and five runs
scored, as well as a 1.417 slugging percentage.

Macon sends Ron Darling to the mound for his first postseason start tonight.
When questioned about the decision to move to a four man rotation, Dunlap
replied, "In the NCCS, we felt is was important to get Drabek and Rasmussen as
many starts as possible. Here, we were pretty much limited to two starts each,
so we felt we should make sure they were as well rested as possible." Drabek
and Rasmussen would start the last two games in Leesburg should the series
return there. Meanwhile, Sid Fernandez returns to the mound for Leesburg on
short rest, after holding the Peaches to three hits through eight plus innings
his first time out.

Tonight's starting lineups:

For the Leesburg Generals

Leading off, designated hitter Edgar Martinez.

Batting second, right fielder Tony Gwynn.

Batting third, center fielder Deion Sanders.

In the cleanup spot, second baseman Ryne Sandberg.

Catching and batting fifth, Mickey Tettleton.

Batting sixth, third baseman Ken Caminiti.

Batting seventh, shortstop John Valentin.

Playing left field and batting eighth, Pete Incaviglia.

And batting ninth, first baseman Randy Milligan.

And now, taking the field, your very own MACON PEACHES!

Playing left field and batting eighth, Doug Dascenzo!

Playing center field and batting fifth, Mike Devereaux!

Playing right field and batting cleanup, Tom Brunansky!

At third base, batting seventh, Wade Boggs!

Playing shortstop, batting second, Rey Sanchez!

Playing second base and leading off, WILLIE RANDOLPH!!!

At first base, batting ninth, veteran Eddie Murray!

Behind the plate and batting third, Mike Stanley!

And warming up in the locker room, tonight's DH, batting sixth, Juan Samuel!

And we'll be back in a moment with the opening pitch...

The IBL Championship Series -- GAME 4
*************************************

It's an ugly day for baseball -- the temperature is 78 degrees, and we haven't
seen the sun yet. Could this be an omen of things to come? The air is still,
and concession sales are brisk.

First Inning:

TOP HALF:
Martinez skies a 2-1 pitch into left -- Dascenzo settles under it for the first
     out.
Gwynn hits a dribbler towards the first base hole -- Murray fields and flips to
     Darling covering for out two.
Sanders lines a 2-0 pitch into right for a hit.
Sandberg hits a dribbler in front of the plate -- Stanley fields and goes to
     first to retire the side.

BOTTOM HALF:
Randolph hits a slow roller to Valentin, who goes to first in time for the out.
Sanchez taps one to Caminiti, who goes to Milligan for the second out.
Stanley hits a fly DEEP to right center. Sanders drifts back and makes the
catch on the track to end the inning.

Incaviglia lofts a fly to Dascenzo in left.
Milligan works Darling for a walk to load the bases!
Darling's 1-0 pitch to Martinez is in the dirt and bounces by Stanley!
Tettleton scores, and the other runners move up to second and third. The
scorer rules it a wild pitch.
Martinez rips a double into the gap in right center -- Valentin and Milligan
     score, and Leesburg leads 3-0!
Gwynn lits a line drive to center for a hit, scoring Martinez.
Deion walks on seven pitches.

all postseason out of the bullpen, and doesn't seem to be doing better as a
starter.

Third Inning:

TOP HALF:
Tettleton leads off again -- and draws a walk again, as Tim Belcher and Rick
Honeycutt get up in the Macon bullpen.
Caminiti lines a 2-2 pitch into right for a hit -- Tettleton stops at second.
Valentin rips a grounder to Sanchez -- he goes to Randolph for one, and the
relay to Murray is in time for the double play! Two outs, Tettleton moves
     to third.
Inky goes down swinging, and the Peaches dodge a bullet.

BOTTOM HALF:
Boggs draws a walk on four straight.
Dascenzo pops up to Valentin for the first out.

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Fickling Memorial Stadium,

After Sid Fernandez's second gem of the series last night, the Peaches have
been pushed to the brink of elimination, with Dave Stewart coming to the mound
tonight to try to finish them off. The Peaches' offense should be bolstered by
the return of Candy Maldonado to the lineup, however. Meanwhile, Macon starter
Chris Bosio hopes to avoid a repeat of game 1, when he was shelled early on the
way to a General blowout.

Tonight's starting lineups:

For the Leesburg Generals

Leading off, designated hitter Edgar Martinez.

Batting second, right fielder Tony Gwynn.

Batting third, center fielder Deion Sanders.

In the cleanup spot, second baseman Ryne Sandberg.

Catching and batting fifth, Mickey Tettleton.

Batting sixth, third baseman Ken Caminiti.

Batting seventh, shortstop John Valentin.

Playing left field and batting eighth, Pete Incaviglia.

And batting ninth, first baseman Randy Milligan.

And now, taking the field, your very own MACON PEACHES!

Playing left field and batting third, Candy Maldonado!

Playing center field and batting second, Doug Dascenzo!

Leading off, right fielder Chito Martinez!

At third base, batting sixth, Wade Boggs!

Playing shortstop, batting ninth, Greg Gagne!

Playing second and batting eighth, Lenny Harris!

At first base, batting cleanup, veteran Eddie Murray!

Behind the plate and batting seventh, Mike Stanley!

And warming up in the locker room, tonight's DH, batting fifth, Tom Brunansky!

And we'll be back in a moment with the opening pitch...

World Championship Series - Game 7 Pregame

Hello, and welcome to tonight's contest between the Macon Peaches and
our hometown favorites, the Leesburg Generals. This is the final game
of the 1993 IBL Season, and it's been a good year for both Leesburg
and Macon. But only one team will go home tonight a world champion.
Who will it be?

Tonight's starting lineups. For Macon (listed are their 93 IBL
stats):

Willie Randolph at 2B (.312 BA, 3 HR, 32 RBI)
     Rey Sanchez at SS (.238 0 15 )
     Tom Brunansky in RF (.266 12 46 )
     Mike Devereaux in CF (.259 15 80 )
     Candy Maldonado in LF (.257 28 92 )
