   The 1997 IBL Homerun Derby was held last night before the All-Star
Game with 5 sluggers from each conference participating.  The first
round consisted of 10 "outs" while the second and third consisted of
5 "outs" in the interest of time.  Jay Buhner won the competition as
he edged out John Jaha in the second extra inning of the finals.

* A sudden death, 2 swing playoff was held.  Buhner, Griffey, and
  Anderson each hit 1 HR while McGwire hit 0.  A second was held
  and Griffey hit 2 HR while Buhner hit 1 and Anderson 0.

** The first extra inning had neither Jaha nor Buhner hit a HR.  In
   the second inning, Jaha hit 1 while Buhner hit 2 and stopped 
   batting(no outs at the time).
