After sweeping PAD in the first series COU was well rested for The Bowling Green Bandits.
G1:
In g1 Glavine vs Oswalt
Oswalt started out like he finished last series, just unhittable. Olerud hit
a hr in the 4th and that was the only runner that got past 1st base all game
for the Bandits. Glavine himself was just as sharp as Oswalt for 5.1 innings
until Coach McFadden replaced him with Day. When Day came in he pitched 2.2
innings and his only mistake was in the 8th inning when he hung a curve ball
to Giles to lead off the inning and Brian hit the ball onto Sheffield Ave. With
that hr the Cougars took a 2-1 lead. In the top of the 9th though with 2 outs,
Oswalt got a little too much of the inside plate and hit Sanders. Eischen was
called out of the pen to face Olerud, but Mr. McFadden had Grissom come up to
PH. Eischen got Grissom to hit a HG to Jack Wilson to end the game.
G2:
In g2 Pinero vs Valdes
In game 2, the Cougars jumped all over Pinero in the first inning scoring 3 runs, helped by a 2 run shot by Giles. With this 3-0 lead, the Cougars figured they would be able to hold the lead, but BOW came back in the top of the 3rd and scored 3 runs with a 3-run double by Jose Hernandez. In the bottom of the inning Giles and Ordonez hit back to back hr's to lead off the inning. With a 5-3 lead, the Cougars pitching staff picked it up a little. Valdes went 3.2 more innings without allowing a run. Grimsley came in to relieve him for 1.1 innings and Cordero came in the 9th to close it out for the save.
